NineZero Games
Would you like to participate in one of the most ambitious fundraising events ever conducted in Riverside County?
On October 11 and 12, The Arc of Riverside County is holding its first annual NineZero Games. The name comes from our project that is spreading the word throughout our county about the devastating effects of drinking alcohol during pregnancy. If you wish to be associated with a great organization and a great cause, we would appreciate your participation and support. This mega-event includes something for everyone - a golf tournament on one of the Southern California's finest courses, an official World TeamTennis tournament for players of all levels and a tennis camp for those with and without disabilities who want to learn to play, a challenging cycling event for competitive riders and a beautiful ride for those who simply enjoy biking, a morning scenic NineZero Walk for everyone, a NineZero Conference, and much more. People will come together after the event for a dinner and program to celebrate the participants, acknowledge sponsors and affirm our commitment to people with intellectual disabilities. All of this happens in one weekend at different venues in the Pass area of Riverside County and benefits the projects and services of The Arc of Riverside County.
Why should I Get Involved?
The NineZero Project for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) prevention began in Moreno Valley in 2001 and is now reaching numerous counties in California and many other states. NineZero is rapidly becoming the word most associated with FASD prevention everywhere. The Arc of Riverside County hopes that through their prevention efforts, they can also raise awareness of the need for services and supports for people with FASD.
One baby in 100 in the United States is born with a significant level of prenatal alcohol exposure. This happens only when mothers drink alcohol during pregnancy. It is totally preventable! No nonprofit agency in Riverside County or throughout California is more actively engaged in getting the word out about this danger and trying to prevent it. Your involvement in this fundraiser will better help our education and awareness campaign convey the NineZero message (Nine Months, Zero Alcohol) to the next generation of parents, women in recovery, and women seeking prenatal care. It will also cast you as a community leader for a cutting edge cause.
Money raised from this event will be used to fund NineZero activities and programs. This fundraiser will also benefit individuals with many different developmental disabilities that The Arc of Riverside County serves in many communities of the county - including the Pass area, Moreno Valley and services in and around the city of Riverside.
