The NineZero Project Summary
Thank you for your interest and support of the NineZero Project. Maternal alcohol consumption during pregnancy causing Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders is a serious public health problem in every community and is the number one known cause of mental retardation in the United States. As many as 1 newborn in 100 may have significant prenatal exposure. As these individuals grow they experience so many difficulties as a result of this exposure that strategies to prevent this disorder must be a national public health priority. This message about the dangers of drinking alcohol during pregnancy needs to be heard.
That's why were asking for your help in the battle of preventing alcohol-related birth defects and educating women and men about the risks of drinking during pregnancy.
If there is anything that we as a community can do to get the message out, warning mothers about the dangers of drinking during pregnancy, then we need to do it.
No child should be born with fetal alcohol syndrome. No child. It isn't genetic. It isn't due to some infectious disease. It isn't due to some tragic accident. It is a condition that is completely preventable.
You can help by simply spreading the NineZero message to friends and family. Ask your school system in include the FASTRAC program to their curriculum, support you local ARC, purchase one the many NineZero promotional items. Or simply make a make a tax-deductible cash contribution to the NineZero outreach campaign.
